Julie Perlanski, MD, MS, ABHM a family physician for 20 years with training in areas of medicine that work with patients within their belief system, honoring all aspects of health. Dr. Julie became Board Certified in Holistic Medicine in 2001 and completed a Fellowship in Integrative Medicine with Dr. Andrew Weil at the University of Arizona in 2005. In addition to the Fellowship, she completed the Botanical courses offered by the University of Arizona on Women’s Health and is currently pursuing certification in Functional Medicine.
Dr. Julie is also a founding member of Collaborative Healing, a group of integrative health care practitioners who combine conventional and alternative medicine. Together they form a network of providers, philosophically aligned, who believe in the value of compassionate relationships. Dedicated to leading the transformation of health care in the Little Falls area by adhering to the philosophy of Integrative Medicine, which is relationship centered and holistic.

Kathleen Curtis, LPN, Policy Director of Clean NY, has two decades of experience in NY’s environmental health movement, and is a widely recognized national leader. She is on the Safer Chemicals, Healthy Families steering committee, participates in the Business-NGO Working Group for Safer Chemicals & Sustainable Materials and the steering committee of the Alliance of Nurses for Healthy Environments, for which she coordinates the policy and advocacy workgroup. She co-coordinates the JustGreen Partnership, is the coordinator of the PBDE Strategic Campaign and is a long-time leader of the Coming Clean Collaborative’s Policy Workgroup, through which she co-founded the SAFER campaign. She serves on the Rotterdam Conservation Advisory Council, the board of the Occupational & Environmental Health Clinic of Eastern NY, the Steering Committee of the Environmental Protection Agency’s Design for the Environment decaBDE Alternatives Assessment Partnership and the NYS Taskforce on Flame Retardant Safety.
Clean New York advances broad policy and market changes to protect people and communities from toxic chemicals, focusing on comprehensive chemical policy reform, including engaging New Yorkers at the grassroots level through gateway issues such as cleaners, cosmetics, and children’s products, as well as documenting problems posed by our failed system through bio-monitoring and product testing.
Kathy’s presentation will cover the health and safety problems and shortcomings associated with current regulations governing personal care products, opportunities to support improvements in this system, and the means to protect ourselves from toxic chemicals in personal care products.
